- Record First Fiscal Quarter Expected

- Cupertino, California. December 17, 1987. Apple Computer, Inc. reported today
- that it expects record revenues and earnings during its first fiscal quarter
- which ends January 1, 1988. "Sales in both our product families are exceeding
- our expectations due to strong demand in all of our markets," noted John
- Sculley, chairman and chief executive officer. "We are seeing a continuation
- of the growth we've experienced in recent quarters. Based on these trends, we
- believe that sales and earnings for the quarter should exceed analysts'
- expectations."

- In the fiscal year ending September 25, 1987, net sales were $2.66
- billion, a 40 percent increase above the $1.90 billion reported in fiscal 1986.
- Net earnings were $217 million, a 41 percent increase above the $154 million
- recorded in fiscal 1986. Earnings per share were $1.65 per share compared to
- earnings of $1.20 per share in fiscal year 1986.
